Program Counselor / Trauma Therapist

Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don't see it yourself.

Tammie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. She is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). She works one on one at Aspire with clients who have trauma that they would like to address. Tammie has over 20 years of experience working in the field of substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Tammie found her love for working with people when she began as a volunteer with Prison Ministries in 1996. Once she received her BA from Wayland Baptist University she worked at Charter Plains Hospital while pursuing her Masters from Texas Tech University. Tammie went on to work at Buckner's Children's Home where she enjoyed working with children age 4-18. She was given the opportunity to work at Texas Tech Student Health as their first mental health case manager where she assisted the doctors and psychiatrist in working with students with mental health and substance abuse needs. She went on to Texas Tech Health Science Center working in an outpatient substance abuse treatment center, The Southwest Institute for Addictive Disorders (SWIAD). Tammie was interested in residential treatment and went to work at The Ranch at Dove Tree for the next 10 years, where she was the clinical director and did trauma counseling. She had the opportunity to help start a mental health and substance abuse outpatient clinic at Covenant Hospital. While working there she did contact work with Aspire doing EMDR and working with clients who suffered from trauma. She really loved Aspire and the staff there so she came to work here full time in July 2015.

Tammie enjoys spending her free time with her two wonderful children. She also likes gardening, redoing furniture and painting. She enjoys holidays and celebrating them.

Tammie has enjoyed working with people to help them move past the difficulties in their lives so that they can live a happier and healthier life. She works to encourage and find the good in people and help them to do this for themselves. She loves seeing people make changes in their lives that bring them joy and peace.
