That's how baseball go...
Hunter is from Georgetown, Texas and has over 4 years of experience within substance abuse treatment. At Aspire he plays a vital role in PHP/IOP programming as the Twelve-Step Coordinator. With Hunter's extensive knowledge in Alcoholics Anonymous Big Book studies, personal experience and the passion to help those suffering, he created a curriculum that helps individuals find ways to navigate towards the solution to their addiction. Those who seek treatment at Aspire are introduced to a wealth of knowledge of both their disease and their solution through Hunter's twelve-step guide, the twelve steps and big book studies. Hunter strives to provide the foundation for individuals to build towards long-term sobriety.
Hunter also serves as an educator at Fire Sky in life skills and self-efficacy. At Fire Sky they learn how to be proficient as he builds guides for clients to partake in weekly. Individuals leave Fire Sky with a strong skillset to implement into their lives before they step back into their routine outside of treatment. Hunter provides the necessary tools to becoming a successful member within society recovering from addiction.
Outside of work you can find Hunter reading, growing in his faith, watching baseball and spending time with his adopted dog Murphy in a Texas Rangers hat, which he is never without. Hunter has over 7 years of sobriety and continues to share his testimony to help those around him.
Murphy is an adopted rescue from Lubbock's local non-kill shelter, The Haven. He walks alongside our Twelve-Step Coordinator, Hunter Birkelbach, as Fire Sky's therapeutic dog. Murphy loves helping those suffering from addiction and providing unconditional positive regard to those in times of need. In Murphy's free time he loves being with his friends at Fire Sky, chasing rabbits and watching the Texas Rangers with this dad.
